Chapter 488
The heavy scent of grease hit Evelyn Roland as the storage door behind the bar kitchen swung open.
Sophia Blanchet followed closely, her high heels making sticky sounds on the greasy floor.
"You bitch! You got away last time, but no one's saving you now!"
A man's crude curses echoed from the darkness.
Evelyn froze mid-step.
Cassandra Valentine?
"Back off! Did Isabella send you?" Cassandra's voice trembled.
Evelyn's eyes turned sharp.
"Shut up! No one's coming for you tonight." The man sneered. "After this job, we're getting ten million."
Sophia already had her phone out, recording.
"Call the police," Evelyn ordered under her breath before kicking open the inner door.
Under the dim light, an obese man pinned Cassandra down.
Evelyn lunged forward, grabbing the man by his collar.
"Ah—!" His scream was like a slaughtered pig.
The other three thugs stood frozen.
"You're dead, bitch!" A shirtless brute was the first to react.
With a twist of her wrist, Evelyn slammed the obese man onto the floor.
Cassandra's clothes were disheveled, her face flushed. "Evelyn..."
"Sophia!" Evelyn snapped.
Sophia had already sent the recording to the police.
Evelyn's fist flew through the air, striking the nearest man.
Crack!
The sound of a breaking nose was unmistakable.
Blood splattered across the greasy walls.
Before the second thug could react, a side kick sent him flying.
"My face...!" He writhed on the ground, clutching his face.
The third thug staggered back in fear.
Evelyn advanced, her gaze icy.
"Mercy, please!" He dropped to his knees.
Police sirens wailed outside the warehouse.
Sophia helped the weakened Cassandra up. "Stay with me."
Evelyn pressed her foot down on the obese man's wrist. "Talk. Who sent you?"
Sweat dripped from his face in pain. "It... it was Isa—"
The sirens grew louder.
The thugs looked like ghosts.
Cassandra leaned against Sophia, tears mixing with sweat.
Evelyn released her foot as the fleeing thugs were tackled by police.
"Isabella again," she murmured.
