Chapter 374
Old Mr. Lee's face turned ashen, his chest heaving violently. Never had he imagined his daughter-in-law would make such a scene in front of everyone.
"Shut your mouth!" Mr. Lee slammed the table and stood abruptly.
All eyes in the banquet hall swiveled toward the Lee family's table.
Mrs. Lee's face flushed and paled in rapid succession under her husband's public scolding. Her fingers clenched around the napkin, nails nearly piercing her palms.
Evelyn Roland set down her wine glass with calm precision. "No need to apologize, Mr. Lee."
Her gaze lifted to Mrs. Lee, lips curving in a faint, knowing smile. "After all, Mrs. Lee merely judges others by her own standards."
Mrs. Lee's pupils contracted sharply.
"What do you mean by that?" Mr. Lee's voice sharpened with suspicion.
Evelyn gave a slight shake of her head. "Just an observation."
A ripple of murmurs spread through the crowd.
Adrian Valentine stood among the guests, amusement flickering in his eyes. Still as sharp-tongued as ever.
"Let's go," Sebastian Orlando murmured.
The trio had barely reached the exit when a drunken figure staggered toward them.
"Evelyn!" Daniel Sherwood blocked their path, face flushed with alcohol. "You're the reason my wife left me!"
Evelyn regarded him coldly. "Natalie left because she finally saw you for who you are."
"Lies!" Daniel waved his arms wildly. "That video was fake!"
Evelyn retrieved her phone from her clutch. "Shall we play it for everyone now?"
In the shadows, Isabella Langley's expression darkened.
"Natalie!" Daniel suddenly shouted toward the crowd. "Don't listen to her nonsense!"
Natalie Lowell emerged from the guests, her gaze glacial. "Daniel, when will this charade end?"
