Chapter 212

"That bitch Cassandra actually hit you?" Margaret Valentine's shrill voice pierced through the phone. "Don't worry, Isabella. Auntie will teach her a lesson."

Isabella Langley ended the call with satisfaction, a cold smirk curling her lips.

Her father had successfully mined the diamond concession. That fool Evelyn had no idea what she'd lost, letting him claim such a priceless fortune. Those diamonds were worth a king's ransom, with profits beyond imagination.

She cast a disdainful glance at Cassandra's retreating figure.

"Just you wait, Cassandra."

As Isabella turned, darkness suddenly engulfed her vision. A burlap sack yanked over her head. Before she could react, rough hands hoisted her into a waiting car. The door slammed shut, sealing her in silence.

Adrian Valentine sped to the mall, tires screeching.

Victor Ashcroft waited at the entrance, rushing forward as Adrian emerged.

"Where's Isabella?" Adrian's voice was steel.

Victor stiffened under his commanding presence, pointing toward the first floor. "Mrs. Langley is in the children's section."

Adrian's chest tightened. He strode inside, their striking appearances making them stand out in the crowd.

Evelyn wore a nude dress today, the delicate shoulder straps accentuating her graceful silhouette.

Clenching his jaw, Adrian approached silently.

"Sophia, what do you think of this princess dress?" Sebastian Orlando held up a pink tulle gown, his gaze tender.

Adrian's pupils contracted.

This should have been his moment with Evelyn—choosing clothes for their child. Instead, another man stood in his place. The sight stabbed through him like a blade.

"Sebastian, Sophia's too young for this." Evelyn shook her head with a soft laugh. "Gabrielle already bought so much. Let's not overdo it."

"Your call." Sebastian picked up tiny pink sandals. "These are adorable."

"Really, it's unnecessary." Evelyn rubbed her temple. "Our place is overflowing already."

They moved toward the sock aisle.

Nearby, a group of women whispered behind their hands.

"Isn't that the woman trending today? First Vincent, then Adrian, now this hottie?"

"Tsk. What a maneater, always upgrading to richer men."

"Look! Adrian's here!"

Adrian's icy glare silenced them instantly. They scattered like startled birds.

The online rumors kept spreading despite his PR team's efforts. His expression darkened further.

Then his phone rang.

Evelyn froze at the familiar ringtone. She turned.

Their eyes met.

The air between them crystallized.
