Chapter 326
"I won't go to the hospital." Julian Roscente leaned weakly against the hospital bed, his voice firm. "If it weren't for Evelyn's medicine that day, I would've bled to death. Even the doctors said its hemostatic effect was remarkable."
He turned toward Evelyn Roland, sincerity in his tone. "Evelyn, you're the only one I trust."
Evelyn retrieved a blue-and-white porcelain vial from her bag, its surface glowing softly under the light. "Then do as I say. Take three pills daily after meals. It'll relieve your headaches and eye pain."
She placed the vial on the nightstand. "Tomorrow, I'll apply herbal compresses. In ten days, your vision will return."
Without another word, she turned and walked away, her departure decisive.
Julian fumbled for the vial, clutching it to his chest like a treasure. "Thank you, Evelyn. See you tomorrow!" His voice brimmed with anticipation.
Sophia Blanchet stood nearby, brows furrowed. She didn't believe Evelyn's kindness—how could a murderer genuinely want to save her son?
The moment Evelyn left, she'd discard those suspicious pills.
——
In the hallway, Adrian Valentine quickened his pace to catch up.
Evelyn sensed his approach and deliberately switched elevators.
"Do you hate seeing me that much?" His voice was low.
Evelyn stared at the elevator numbers, not turning. "Should I be eager to?"
"Can you really cure Julian?"
"If you doubt me, why ask?" Her laugh was cold.
"Sophia won't let you off easily." A flicker of concern crossed his eyes.
"Not your concern." Her tone was distant.
"Darling—"
The elevator doors slid open.
Isabella Langley stepped out arm-in-arm with Cassandra Valentine. Their expressions darkened at the sight of the two.
"Brother! How could you be with her? After all Isabella's done for you?" Cassandra shrilled.
Isabella's gaze burned into Evelyn. "Evelyn Roland, daring to show your face here? Still bitter you failed to kill Julian last time?"
Evelyn lazily lifted her eyes. "How do you know I wanted him dead?"
Isabella faltered, then snapped, "It's all over the internet! Seducing Adrian, trying to murder Julian—you're utterly depraved!"
Slap!
The sharp sound echoed down the hall.
Evelyn swiftly plucked a strand of Isabella's hair, too fast for anyone to notice.
"You hit me?" Isabella clutched her cheek, staring at Adrian in disbelief.
Evelyn's gaze was ice. "Who's more vile than you, Isabella? Spare me the innocent act."
"You—"
Slap!
Another stinging blow landed.
Isabella lost control. "You're dead, Evelyn!"
A cold smile curled Evelyn's lips. "You first. Once I have proof, you'll learn what true depravity means."
