Chapter 337
"Natalie, I'll never sign these divorce papers." Daniel Sherwood's knuckles turned white as he clutched the documents.
Even if her father took the irrefutable evidence to court, this marriage could still limp along as long as he refused to cooperate.
Natalie Lowell's lips curled into a mocking smile. "What's the point?"
"What?" Her icy stare sent a shiver down his spine.
"Domestic violence. Infidelity. Leaving me to die." She enunciated each word. "When I was too ill to file before, this evidence is enough for the civil affairs bureau to grant an immediate divorce."
She took half a step back, avoiding his outstretched hand. "Mr. Sherwood, maintain some dignity."
Daniel's face twisted with rage. "If you hadn't hidden your identity, I wouldn't have had to grovel for help! If your family had just—"
"Marrying within your social class?" Natalie suddenly laughed. "If you'd known I was a Lowell heiress, do you really think you'd have been worthy?"
Scarlett Orlando nearly choked on her coffee. Evelyn Roland watched the pathetic display with cold detachment.
Daniel's face darkened. He knew exactly how despicable his mother and sister were—ever since she left, that house had become a cesspool.
"I was wrong, Natalie!" He dropped to his knees with a thud. "Ms. Zhang meant nothing, I swear I never touched her! I'll do all the housework from now on—"
"A broken mirror can't be made whole again." Natalie's light words sliced through any possibility of reconciliation like a blade.
Adrian Valentine's head snapped up. Through the crowd, he caught sight of Evelyn's indifferent profile.
Some mistakes could never be undone.
In the parking lot, Adrian slammed his fist against the steering wheel. The rearview mirror reflected Isabella Langley's puzzled gaze, haunting him like a shadow.
