Chapter 324

Adrian Valentine gazed into Julian Roscente's bloodshot eyes, a pang of bitterness tightening his chest.

"I came to see you." Adrian's deep voice carried its natural magnetism.

"Any news from Dr. Z?"

Julian's expression darkened at the mention of his assistant's report. "He's busy handling corporate scandals and his illegitimate son. My survival is the last thing on his mind."

Adrian's brow furrowed. "Is Mason really your father's love child?"

Julian gave a humorless smirk. "Who knows?"

The answer no longer mattered. Blind and broken, he was already written off by that man.

"How are things outside?" Julian's grip tightened on the sheets. His assistant Victor only delivered good news, leaving him isolated like a prisoner.

"Everything's under control. Your father handled it well."

Julian suddenly turned serious. "Adrian, when my father suspected Evelyn... did you doubt her too?"

Adrian's knuckles whitened before he admitted, "An anonymous tip claimed Evelyn tried to kill you."

"Make a call for me." Julian fumbled with his phone.

Adrian eyed the device. "Use mine."

Julian shook his head. "I need mine. Dial and hand it to me."

He feared Evelyn would reject the call. That woman never forgot a grudge.

Adrian unlocked the phone, dialed, and returned it.

"Thanks."

Adrian froze. In just days, this proud man had learned gratitude.

The call connected instantly.

"Evelyn, it's me." Julian's voice trembled. "Can we meet?"

She almost refused, but the false murder accusation flashed through her mind, chilling her gaze.

"At the hospital?"

"Yes."

"I'll be there in an hour."

......

When Evelyn pushed open the hospital door, her diamond shoulder brooch glinted coldly under the lights.

Adrian leaned against the window, exuding dangerous charm. Their eyes met—then she looked away indifferently.

"Julian." She set a fruit basket on the floor.

A rare smile touched Julian's lips. "Thank you for coming. And for saving me."

Evelyn crossed her legs. "This is just the beginning. By tomorrow, the entire internet will say I tried to kill you."

Adrian's eyes narrowed. She'd become a stranger.

Yet Julian laughed. "I believe you. Evelyn... do you know who did this?"
