Chapter 159

Nathan sighed helplessly. The chicken wrap was specially prepared by Gabrielle with rare medicinal herbs.

Gabrielle never cut corners, even with the simplest dishes.

"Victoria sent this. Gabrielle made it specifically for your recovery." Nathan pushed the thermal container forward. "She said your wounds haven't fully healed. Finish it all, or no office tomorrow."

Evelyn stared at the wrap, her frown deep enough to crush flies.

This was her fourth chicken wrap today.

"Look at my waist." She pinched her slender frame. "I'll balloon up if I keep eating. You finish it—just throw away the part I bit."

Nathan's gaze swept over her flawless figure.

"Where's the fat?" He scratched his head. "You're as stunning as ever."

Women's obsession with weight baffled him.

"Fine, I'll eat it." Resigned, Nathan picked up the wrap. "Can't waste Gabrielle's cooking." Those herbs were priceless.

Relieved, Evelyn inhaled the scent of her roses.

"Beautiful flowers?"

"Gorgeous." Nathan admired them sincerely. "Sebastian still sends you roses before business trips. He spoils you rotten."

Even as a man, he couldn't help appreciating the vibrant blooms.

"Hope his trip goes well." Evelyn stood. "Let's go meet Chairman Harrison."

Turning, she locked eyes with Adrian's icy glare.

Her expression blank, Evelyn walked past without acknowledgment.

Nathan instantly shielded her, his sharp gaze warning Adrian to back off.

As they brushed past, a cold hand suddenly clamped around Evelyn's wrist with bruising force.

"Let go." Her voice was frost.

Running into this jinx every outing was exhausting.

The irony—he was the heartbreaker, yet played the victim.

"Adrian, release her!" Nathan barked.

Why wouldn't this man disappear?

Adrian studied Evelyn's flushed cheeks. "We need to talk."

"About what?" Her lips curled mockingly. "What's left to say?"

After over a month apart, he looked haggard yet unbearably handsome.

"Over there." Adrian tried dragging Evelyn away.

Nathan blocked them, chin lifted in challenge. "Last warning—let her go!"

Adrian smirked down at him. "Why so tense, Nathan? Just catching up with my ex-wife."
