Chapter 89

Scarlett Orlando threw on an oversized T-shirt and jeans that hugged her long legs. Even in such casual attire, her striking beauty shone through.

Evelyn Roland wore a pink tracksuit that made her skin glow like snow.

"Scarlett, how did you sleep last night?" Evelyn linked arms with her as they headed to the dining room.

The aroma of breakfast filled the air. Scarlett's stomach growled the moment she caught the scent.

Victoria Laurent set out an extra place setting. The two women chatted over their meal.

"Evelyn, I can't just sit back and take this. Isabella Langley stole my role because she has Adrian Valentine backing her. She thinks I'm an easy target."

Scarlett's gaze hardened. Now that she was sober, she was ready to fight back.

Evelyn had expected this. She'd been waiting for Scarlett to say the words.

She knew her best friend too well.

If Adrian could suppress Scarlett,

then Evelyn could crush Isabella.

Evelyn took a slow sip of her porridge. "Direct retaliation would be too obvious. She's filming a TV series—so should you. When a newcomer flops in a major director's project, the mockery will be relentless."

"I'll find you a better script and a stronger cast. Scarlett, are you ready for this?"

This was exactly why Scarlett had come today.

In Vienna, nothing was beyond the reach of Sterling Manor's heiress.

Her eyes instantly welled up.

Scarlett rushed over and hugged Evelyn from behind, burying her face in her shoulder. "Evelyn, you're my lucky star! You always have the answers. No wonder you're my best friend!"

Evelyn had her own plans. She couldn't tell Scarlett about the pregnancy yet—her friend couldn't keep secrets.

Adrian must never find out before the baby was born.

Scarlett's filming would take at least six months. That gave Evelyn enough time to set the stage.

Adrian wanted to elevate Isabella?

She'd make sure that woman fell harder.

And Scarlett would rise higher.

Scarlett released her grip and returned to her seat.

She picked up a piece of beef, her eyes sparkling. "Evelyn, this beef is amazing! Tell Victoria to make more for me."

Evelyn smiled and nodded. "Just let Victoria know whenever you want it. Don't worry, it won't make you gain weight."

Scarlett happily agreed.

After breakfast, Evelyn made a few calls.

Soon, Zachary Deross was arranged to take Scarlett to meet the director and screenwriter.

Sterling Manor's team would outshine Adrian's. Isabella didn't stand a chance.

But Adrian was a formidable opponent.

With everything in place, Evelyn waited for the show to begin.

......

The next day, news broke.

Scarlett Orlando would star in Aurora Klein's highly anticipated series Imperial Consort,

directed by the renowned Derek Anderson.
