Vincent Langley patted his daughter's shoulder. "The contract is signed. The evidence can wait. As long as Evelyn doesn't show up, Natalie won't suspect anything."

Isabella nodded.

She planned to make an excuse to cancel tomorrow's meeting and deal with it later.

Evelyn had recently become obsessed with Victoria's braised beef.

In the living room, three strikingly different women were occupied with their own activities.

Sophia Blanchet curled up on the couch playing a game.

Victoria brought out freshly braised beef paired with a light vegetable soup.

Sophia smirked knowingly. "Don't worry. Everything's arranged."

"Calling me 'sis' sounds much better than 'boss,'" Evelyn teased. "If you keep saying 'boss' all the time, people might think I'm running a crime syndicate."

Sophia suddenly stared at her intently. "Sis, I like you!"

Clatter—

Evelyn's chopsticks fell to the floor.

Victoria froze in the kitchen doorway, holding a fruit platter.

Sophia belatedly flushed red. "Not that kind of liking! Sisterly affection! What were you two thinking?"

Evelyn exhaled deeply, nearly choking on her beef.

Thinking about having to deal with the Lowells tomorrow, she rubbed her temples.

The next morning.

Evelyn took Sophia with her to negotiate a materials partnership.
