Chapter 59

Adrian Valentine's eyes darkened as he seized Evelyn Roland's wrist. "Evelyn, I was wrong about the shares. That slap... I apologize."

Her lashes fluttered. She hadn't expected the proud Adrian to lower his head.

The sting of that slap still burned her cheek.

Hugging her knees, she whispered, "Adrian, let the past stay in the past. We were never meant to be. From now on, we're strangers."

This was her final decision.

Aside from hiding her identity, she had no regrets about their marriage.

She had planned to reveal everything on her birthday—but fate had other plans.

A storm brewed in Adrian's gaze as he suddenly yanked her into his arms.

The familiar scent of peach blossoms enveloped her, unraveling his control.

"Let go!" Evelyn struggled fiercely.

He pressed a kiss to her earlobe before releasing her.

"Mr. Valentine, have some dignity." Her eyes blazed. "We're divorced."

Adrian narrowed his eyes. "How do you know Sebastian Cortez?"

"Business." She turned away.

With a cold laugh, he strode off.

Watching his retreating figure, a sharp pain pierced her chest.

Sweet memories turned to knives, reopening old wounds.

Her phone rang—Nathan Aldridge was calling.

Isabella Langley frantically dialed Evelyn's number, but the calls wouldn't connect.

She rushed downstairs. "Mom, Dad, we need to reach Evelyn now! The truth will come out tomorrow!"

After hearing her out, Vincent Langley frowned. "Good timing, but we need certainty."

"Dad! She's not answering!" Isabella stomped in frustration.

Eleanor Langley soothed, "Don't panic. I know how to make her hand over the evidence."

Yet call after call failed.

"Did she block us all?" Isabella's face twisted with fury.

Vincent tried a backup phone—still no response.

Isabella's eyes turned icy. "She's cutting ties with us for good."
