Chapter 292
Evelyn stood in the living room, listening to Sophia's bell-like laughter drifting down from upstairs.
The corners of her lips lifted unconsciously.
"Mommy!" Sophia waved excitedly from Victoria's arms.
Victoria held the quiet Ethan in her other arm.
Both children squirmed eagerly toward Evelyn the moment they saw her.
Watching their innocent joy warmed Evelyn's heart.
"Take them downstairs first. I need to get the medical kit."
Gabrielle's sharp eyes caught the injury on Evelyn's arm, her face instantly darkening.
"Sister! This is how Zachary protects you?" She stomped her foot in anger.
Evelyn chuckled at her sudden outburst.
"It's just a scratch. Don't overreact."
She turned and headed to the bedroom, retrieving the medical kit to check the supplies.
When she came downstairs, she saw Sebastian holding Sophia.
The little girl clung to his neck, planting a sloppy kiss on his cheek.
"Mr. Orlando, Sophia just adores you." Gabrielle looked slightly embarrassed.
Sebastian smiled gently. "How could I mind?"
He reluctantly handed Sophia back to Gabrielle, worried about passing anything to the child.
Evelyn approached with the medical kit.
"Thank you for this." Sebastian's voice was hoarse.
Victoria and Gabrielle tactfully took the children away.
Evelyn poured him a glass of water and handed him a pill.
"Take this first. One daily. Your condition will improve in six months."
Surprise flickered in Sebastian's eyes.
"Your medical skills remain impeccable."
Evelyn smiled faintly. "Years of practice."
She urged him to rest and personally walked him out.
When they reached the opposite courtyard, she froze.
Moonlight bathed the garden of swaying roses.
She remembered his promise—to fill a garden with roses for her.
Sebastian suddenly stopped.
"Evelyn, have you truly let go of Adrian?"
