Chapter 316
Felicia's tiny hand smacked her brother's forehead with a loud "thwack."
Evelyn Roland: "..."
Her daughter glared like an angry tiger cub robbed of its meal.
Tristan buried his face in his mother's shoulder, sulking. His little sister always bullied him.
Evelyn observed Felicia's domineering personality—a mirror image of her own childhood self. Tristan, however, took after Adrian Valentine. Though she'd never seen Adrian as a child, Beatrice Valentine had mentioned he'd been a quiet boy who kept to himself.
She placed both children on the bed and fixed Felicia with a stern look. "No hitting your brother."
Felicia pouted and rolled over, presenting her back to her mother.
Evelyn suppressed a laugh. These two little troublemakers.
In the adjacent bed, Gabrielle stirred awake, rubbing her eyes. "Evelyn, it's past midnight. Late nights cause wrinkles." She yawned and shuffled out. "I'm getting my beauty sleep."
Evelyn noticed the turtle drawing Felicia had doodled on Gabrielle's cheek but held her tongue.
Thump. Thump. Thump. Gabrielle's slippers slapped against the stairs.
Evelyn counted down silently: Three. Two. One—
"Felicia Roland! I'll skin you alive!"
Felicia flinched and burrowed under the covers.
Evelyn pinched her daughter's cheek, barely containing her amusement. "Scared now, aren't you?"
She tucked both children in. "Stay put. Mommy will be right back."
The shower hissed in the bathroom.
Tristan lay perfectly still.
Felicia eyed her brother's fluffy hair and suddenly lunged for it.
Tristan's eyes flew open. He seized her wrist in a death grip.
"Waaah—" Felicia wailed as red marks bloomed on her skin.
Panicked, Tristan scrambled up and patted her back clumsily, imitating Evelyn.
Felicia seized the opportunity to tackle him, punching him square in the face.
Tristan froze in shock.
When Evelyn rushed out with shampoo still in her hair, she found Felicia triumphantly straddling her brother while Tristan peeked out from the blankets with wounded puppy eyes.
She gritted her teeth, thinking of Adrian. That infuriatingly quiet personality is exactly the same!
By the time she finally got both children to sleep, dawn was breaking.
The next morning, Zachary Deross burst in. "Boss! Vincent Langley's in trouble!"
