Chapter 478
Evelyn raised an eyebrow. "You actually staked out the hotel? Scarlett, you're unbelievable!"
"Pfft."
Scarlett scoffed. "Why would I stalk them? I just drove my sports car over to watch the drama unfold. Best entertainment ever."
"Just saw Natalie limping out of the hotel. Can you imagine how wild last night must've been? Hahaha..."
Evelyn massaged her temples. No wonder the girl had disappeared this morning—she'd gone to indulge in gossip. How bored was she?
Rich people's problems really just boiled down to finding amusement.
"Hey, it's been years since our families had a proper celebration. Think Nathan might pull a shotgun wedding?" Scarlett suddenly mused.
Evelyn sighed. "I wish they'd settle down already. They're all at that age, still single. As their older sister, it's frustrating."
They'd grown up together, and Evelyn genuinely wanted them to find happiness.
"Why the rush? When fate comes knocking, you'll have your hands full. There are several of them—plenty to keep you busy." Scarlett took a leisurely bite of her savory pancake.
With no work commitments lately, she'd even sent her manager on vacation. Dieting could wait.
Evelyn shook her head. "Enough chitchat. I need to feed Sophia."
Scarlett grinned. "Go ahead. I'll keep enjoying my drama."
The moment she hung up, Scarlett spotted Nathan exiting the hotel. His thunderous expression made her retract her hand from the car door.
Huh? That wasn't right.
She'd never seen him look so furious before.
Whatever. Spoiled gossip wasn't worth it. Time to go home and nap.
Scarlett summoned her driver and made a quick escape.
Nathan was seething.
He'd stepped out of the shower to find Natalie gone.
After initiating everything last night, she'd slipped away while he was showering?
He'd see how far she could run.
Yanking at his tie in irritation, Nathan cursed himself for agreeing to her absurd request.
It wasn't their first meeting, yet when he saw her ex-husband drugging her drink last night—and her blindly drinking it—
Something inside him snapped.
His assistant nervously pulled up the car. "To the office," Nathan ordered coldly.
...
Evelyn didn't interfere with Nathan's affairs.
She never meddled in her siblings' love lives.
After eighteen, they had their freedom—her only rule was to never expose her true identity.
"Sophia, time to eat."
Evelyn reached for her daughter.
The little girl clung to her collar, still wanting to nurse.
Evelyn gently pinched her nose. "Ouch..."
Sophia whined in protest.
"You know it hurts? No more nursing starting today. Mommy's in pain too."
