Chapter 398
Vincent Langley's face darkened as his gaze shifted between the two.
"Enough! This isn't the time for infighting. Finding Isabella is our priority."
He turned to his wife, noting the same anxiety in her expression. His suspicion deepened. Was she behind this? Only Isabella's safe return would reveal the truth.
A screech of brakes shattered the silence.
Adrian Valentine rolled down the car window, his voice icy. "Get in."
The three climbed into the vehicle, each lost in their own thoughts.
Vincent clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white. "Adrian, do you have news about Isabella?"
Adrian's lips curved into a cold smile. "Hudson Docks."
"They didn't contact you?"
Vincent's temple throbbed. "No."
He swore the kidnappers would pay.
Eleanor Langley calculated silently. She had considered abduction but ultimately lacked the nerve. She feared what Vincent might do to his own flesh and blood.
Victor Ashcroft watched Vincent through the rearview mirror, hatred burning in his eyes.
The car sped toward its destination at breakneck speed.
——
At the mall, Sebastian Orlando insisted on buying Evelyn Roland new clothes.
"Try these on," he demanded firmly.
Evelyn sighed and stepped into the fitting room.
Sebastian's phone rang, and he turned away to answer.
Sales associates bustled about their tasks.
Inside the fitting room, Evelyn had just picked up the garment when a strange fragrance filled her nostrils.
Her pupils constricted, but her body had already gone limp.
Darkness swallowed her vision as she collapsed.
Two figures in black emerged soundlessly and dragged her away.
——
The abandoned docks reeked of decay.
A sea breeze carried the stench of rot, making Margaret Valentine cover her nose in disgust.
"What a godforsaken place..."
Vincent scanned the area. "There are too many warehouses. How do we find her?"
Adrian checked his watch. "They said to come here."
His imposing figure stood out starkly in the dim light.
Vincent glared at him with envy. Why couldn't his own son command such presence?
Time ticked by.
Adrian stared at his phone screen, his frown deepening.
