Chapter 57

Nathan Aldridge gave a slight nod. "Show them in."

If a deal couldn't be made, it was best to reject it outright.

Isabella Langley's fingertips trembled slightly. If Evelyn showed up now, everything would be ruined.

She bit her lower lip, lowering her gaze to hide her panic.

Footsteps approached, and a tall figure entered the conference room.

Nathan was strikingly handsome, with features like a painting. His every movement exuded effortless elegance, a faint smile playing at his lips.

"Chairman Lowell," he inclined his head slightly. "An honor."

His gaze swept past Adrian Valentine and Isabella, a flicker of coldness in his eyes.

Sophia Blanchet had already told him everything about these two.

Chairman Lowell warmly gestured for him to take a seat.

Adrian looked up, meeting Nathan's eyes, his handsome face darkening.

Evelyn was never short of exceptional men around her.

Nathan returned the look with a knowing smile.

Chairman Lowell offered an apologetic smile. "Mr. Aldridge, I must apologize. I’ve already decided to work with Mr. Valentine."

Nathan remained composed. "Business is war, Chairman. No need for regrets. Though the young mistress will be disappointed when she hears."

He rose gracefully, his smile still perfectly polite. "Then I won’t take up any more of your time."

Chairman Lowell quickly added, "I heard the young mistress has returned to the country. There will be plenty of opportunities for future collaborations. This time, it was purely a personal matter..."

Nathan's eyes gleamed. "The NovaCore project was under her direct supervision. A true shame."

At the mention of the young mistress, pride flashed in his gaze. "She earned five doctoral degrees by eighteen. The President himself granted her special privileges."

His words sent ripples of reaction through the room.

Isabella trembled with envy.

Adrian, however, only cared about why Evelyn hadn’t come.

Chairman Lowell turned to Adrian. "Mr. Valentine, shall we proceed with the signing?"

After confirming the contract, the signing was swiftly completed.

Isabella forced a smile. "Chairman Lowell, you truly are a devoted family man."

Once the chairman left, Isabella hurriedly said, "Adrian, I should go."

She had to find Evelyn before tomorrow.

Adrian responded indifferently. "Mm. Have the driver take you. Thank you for today."
