Chapter 476

Jonathan Savigny held Eleanor Langley's trembling shoulders tightly. "Eleanor, you were driving too fast. I couldn't avoid you in time."

Her fists pounded against his chest, tears soaking through his shirt.

"This is all your fault!" Her voice was hoarse. "I finally found my biological daughter, but I didn't even get to see her one last time!"

His fingers brushed through her disheveled hair.

His voice trembled. "I only came looking for you after seeing the news. Cassandra Valentine might really be your daughter."

Eleanor jerked her head up, tears still clinging to her lashes.

"She was already cremated?" Her nails dug into her palms.

Jonathan nodded. "Adrian Valentine handled it. He wanted to give his sister a proper farewell."

Autumn wind rattled the window, carrying fallen leaves.

Eleanor shivered violently. Jonathan immediately stood to close the window.

Her gaze burned into the white hospital sheets, hatred flaring in her eyes.

"Isabella Langley will pay for this."

Sophia Blanchet hid around the corner of the hallway, her phone camera aimed at the hospital room.

She clicked her tongue and shook her head, quickly texting Evelyn Roland: "Eleanor is having an affair with her assistant. I'm going to plant surveillance at Isabella's place."

Evelyn was nursing little Sophia Roland when her phone screen lit up.

Ethan Roland sat obediently in his high chair, his cheeks smeared with carrot puree.

"Mommy." Sophia suddenly tugged at Evelyn's collar.

Gabrielle Flores laughed as she carried a bowl of soup. "Breast milk is the best nutrition. You should keep it up for another six months."

Evelyn's ears turned red.

The embarrassing moment from yesterday flashed in her mind—when she'd nearly been caught nursing by the baby's father.

"About weaning..."

Gabrielle blinked. "Let's wait until after autumn."

Sophia had already latched on with practiced ease. Evelyn sighed in resignation.
