Chapter 428

Gabrielle Flores clenched her chest in frustration.

She yanked the blanket off Christian and shoved her phone in his face.

"See this? Surveillance footage of Isabella Langley testifying against my sister in court!"

"She kept claiming you were dead, but my sister saved your life!"

Gabrielle jabbed the screen with a snarl.

"Three years playing dead. Do you have any idea how much chaos you've caused?"

"Isabella and your dear friend Adrian Valentine are teaming up to destroy my sister!"

She leaned down, her breath hot against his ear.

"Your mother visited last week. She collapsed sobbing in the hallway."

"Your father brought his bastard son here, threatening to pull your life support."

A cold laugh escaped her lips.

"Should I do it for them right now?"

Her fingers hovered over the ventilator tube.

The underground lab was deathly silent.

Gabrielle's hand froze mid-air before slamming onto the bed rail.

"Pathetic!"

She turned to leave but whirled back abruptly.

"Christian Lefèvre, listen carefully."

"If my sister gets convicted tomorrow..."

Her words dripped with venom.

"...I'll make sure you never wake up."

The flashlight beam swept across Christian's pallid face.

Gabrielle stormed out, the door crashing shut behind her.

A single tear traced the unconscious man's temple.

......

Top floor of Lunaris Group headquarters.

Sebastian Orlando slid a dossier across the desk to Sophia Blanchet.

"New evidence proving Isabella perjured herself."

Sophia flipped through pages rapidly. "Not enough. We need irrefutable proof."

"What about Christian—"

Sebastian shook his head. "Too risky right now."

Storm clouds loomed over the cityscape beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Meanwhile...

Valentine Mansion.

Victor Ashcroft burst into the study where Adrian Valentine stared blankly at a wedding portrait.

"Sir, emergency!"

Adrian didn't look up. "Vincent Langley made another move?"

"Manqi confessed!" Victor panted. "She's taking full blame for the twenty-year-old case!"

Adrian finally lifted his gaze.

Bloodshot eyes gleamed under the lamplight.

"Should've seen this coming."

His lips twisted into a mirthless smile.

"That old fox Vincent..."

Victor stomped in agitation. "The trial starts tomorrow! What about Madam?"

Adrian rose slowly.

"Get the car ready."

"We're going to the prison."
