Chapter 406
Margaret Valentine's eyes turned icy as her nails dug deep into her palms.
The old fool had ruined her carefully laid plans.
Isabella Langley gazed tearfully at Adrian Valentine. "Adrian..."
"Shut up!" Adrian's face twisted in disgust. "Don't call me that."
Isabella paled. She'd known Margaret arranged this marriage precisely because they weren't blood-related.
She refused to give up. "Adrian, those are just rumors. How could my father possibly—"
Adrian's razor-sharp gaze sliced toward Vincent Langley. "Mr. Langley, how does it feel to scheme against the Valentines for years only to fail at the last moment?"
Vincent cradled his unconscious wife Eleanor, murky eyes boiling with murderous intent.
Everything had gone wrong. The plan was to control Adrian through marriage and then swallow the entire Valentine empire.
Now it was all over.
He forced a smile. "Adrian, you shouldn't make baseless accusations."
Isabella desperately grabbed Adrian's sleeve. "Adrian, I knew nothing about this. I truly love you—"
"Love?" Adrian sneered. "After what your father and Margaret did, you dare speak of love?"
Isabella whirled toward Margaret, eyes blazing. "You knew the truth and still tricked me into this marriage? I'll never acknowledge you as my mother!"
Margaret trembled. Was this the daughter she'd longed for all these years?
Isabella lunged at Vincent, hysterical. "Dad! How could you do this to Mom? She was so beautiful, so kind—"
Staggering back, she turned toward the exit.
"Isabella!" Margaret sobbed, chasing after her.
Isabella spun around, venom in her eyes. "Don't follow me! You destroyed everything!"
If she couldn't have Adrian, then Evelyn Roland wouldn't either.
She pulled out her phone and dialed Warren Garten's number.
