Chapter 368
Evelyn's fingertip traced across her phone screen. The coordinates of the Lee family's medicinal herb plantation flashed on the display—located in Montreal.
"Montreal had perfect weather this year." A faint smile touched her lips. "The Lees' herb yield tripled."
Nathan flicked his lighter open and shut. The flame cast shadows across his sharp profile. "Are they trying to intimidate Sterling Manor?"
Evelyn scrolled through the latest production report, amusement glinting in her eyes. "Remember what I said? The market has its own temper."
Nathan's gaze brightened. Whenever his boss wore that expression, someone was about to get wrecked.
"What do you need me to do, boss?"
"Old Man Lee's birthday banquet is tomorrow night. Did the invitation arrive?"
Nathan nodded. "Sterling Manor is on the guest list."
Evelyn leaned closer, murmuring instructions. With each word, Nathan's excitement grew, his knuckles cracking audibly.
"Got it!"
......
Vincent Langley's study was thick with cigarette smoke. Bloodshot eyes stared at the computer screen.
Eleanor Langley pushed open the door, coughing at the acrid haze. "Still no breakthrough with the diamond situation?"
"Phoenix Group only took a fraction." Vincent stubbed out his cigarette. "This year's profits actually increased by a billion."
He tossed a photograph from his desk drawer. Eleanor's pupils contracted, her fingers trembling.
"Someone left this in my study." Vincent's laugh was icy. "Seems the cockroaches from back then aren't extinct yet."
Eleanor stared at the handsome face in the photo—the most radiant man she'd ever seen.
"No leads on the source?"
"Whoever's behind this is playing mind games." Vincent twisted his wedding ring. "Either it's a warning, or..."
Eleanor abruptly cut him off. "Evelyn has been spending time with Alexander Durand."
Her fist clenched around the anonymous paternity test that remained an unsolved mystery.
Vincent's eyes narrowed. "Speaking of which... how did you discover Isabella's true parentage?"
