Chapter 329

Julian Roscente sensed something amiss.

"Who are you?" His voice was icy. "My attending physician doesn't sound like you."

This doctor's arrival was suspicious. His father had specifically arranged for an old friend—why would there be a sudden replacement?

"Don't be alarmed, Mr. Roscente." The doctor spoke gently. "I'm Dr. Zhang from the ER. This young lady ran into me on the way and explained your condition."

Julian's brow furrowed.

"No examination needed. I want to rest."

The doctor's gaze flickered over the medicine bottles on the nightstand before he ushered the medical team out.

As footsteps faded, Julian counted silently in his head.

"Mother, how many came in?"

"Six." Mrs. Roscente stood by the door. "All male doctors."

Cassandra Valentine remained rooted in place.

"Still here?" Julian's voice was frigid. "Cassandra, I despise being manipulated."

Her eyes reddened as she snatched her purse and stormed out.

Once certain they were gone, Julian lowered his voice. "Mother, check the surveillance footage."

"What's wrong?"

"Two doctors reeked of cigarettes." His expression darkened. "They didn't seem like hospital staff."

Blindness had sharpened his other senses.

Mrs. Roscente's pulse quickened with understanding.

She slipped toward the security room, heart pounding.

——

Isabella Langley sat in her car as her phone screen lit up.

[Task complete]

Her smirk tugged at facial wounds, making her wince.

"Evelyn..." She ground her teeth.

Another vibration—Victor Ashcroft calling.

"Ms. Langley, the CEO asked me to escort you to the auction."

Triumph flashed in Isabella's eyes. "Take me home to change first."

Tonight, Evelyn would pay.

——

Evelyn Roland returned to Regal Heights.

Nathan Aldridge had gone to investigate witnesses from that night.

Online rumors accusing her of attempting to murder Julian were spiraling out of control.

The "murderer" label spread like wildfire.

Evelyn stood by the window, gaze glacial.

This game had only just begun.
