Chapter 318
Victoria's voice trembled. "Is it too late to run now?"
Evelyn's eyes flickered. "No need to hide. Scarlett would find out eventually. With our resources, Adrian can't take the children no matter how cunning he is."
Victoria and Gabrielle still looked uneasy. Adrian Valentine was no ordinary man.
To elevate the Valentine Group to Vienna's elite in just three years?
This was a man both ruthless and brilliant. That's why they'd been living discreetly all this time.
Evelyn never purchased baby supplies under her own name—Gabrielle handled everything.
Even if Adrian investigated, the trail would only lead to Gabrielle.
During her pregnancy, Evelyn hadn't actively suppressed the Valentine Group's growth.
Not even Sterling Manor, the wealthiest family in the Nine-City Alliance, could afford to underestimate them.
"Oh my god! Whose adorable babies are these?"
Scarlett had just entered the restaurant when two porcelain-doll-like toddlers caught her eye. They were unbearably cute!
Her burning gaze darted between Victoria and Gabrielle. "Which one of you got married in secret? How could you keep this from me?"
Victoria and Gabrielle bolted from their seats.
The answer was obvious.
Scarlett: "..."
She turned to Evelyn in shock.
Could it be...?
Today, Evelyn wore casual tweed with wide-leg pants accentuating her long legs. Guilt flickered across her stunning face.
"Ev... Are these your children?"
Evelyn nodded calmly. "Tristan, Felicia, say hello to Mommy."
"Evelyn!" Scarlett shrieked.
Evelyn flinched. She'd expected anger, but not this intensity.
"Waaah—" Felicia burst into terrified tears.
Tristan shot Scarlett a disdainful look and covered his ears with tiny hands.
The crying snapped Scarlett back to reality.
She immediately scooped up Felicia, whose face was smeared with rice cereal, not caring that it stained her clothes.
"Don't cry, sweetheart. Mommy didn't mean to scare you." She patted the baby's back. "I'll buy you treats later."
Evelyn: "..."
Gabrielle had strictly forbidden junk food for Felicia's sensitive stomach.
At the word "treats," Felicia instantly stopped crying. Her big, watery eyes blinked before she planted a messy kiss on Scarlett's cheek—rice cereal and drool included.
Scarlett didn't mind. Settling Felicia on her lap, she reached to ruffle Tristan's hair.
The boy dodged but couldn't escape her clutches.
He wrinkled his nose in clear disgust.
Scarlett's heart shattered. "Ev, your son hates me?"
Evelyn massaged her temples. That expression was Adrian Valentine in miniature.
"Start talking. When did you give birth?" Scarlett's frown deepened as realization struck.
She'd been immersed in filming lately, only seeing Evelyn through video calls. Had twins been born right under her nose?
Evelyn read her thoughts. "I was already pregnant last time we met. I wanted to tell you, but your schedule was packed."
Scarlett's eyes reddened. "So it's my fault for being too busy?"
