Chapter 317
Evelyn took the phone from Victoria. The trending hashtags on the screen made her pupils constrict.
#LangleyGroupTaxEvasion
#LangleyGroupIllegalMining
The comment section exploded.
~Isn't this Isabella's family company?
~Spot on. Your beloved idol Isabella.
~Unfollowed. This scandal is too juicy.
~Vincent even stole his adopted daughter's manuscripts. Mining without permits? Disgusting.
Evelyn tapped her fingers on the table. She hadn't made this move yet. Who was pulling the strings behind the scenes?
She immediately dialed Zachary.
"Boss." His voice was steady.
"Find out who leaked the Langley scandal." Her tone was icy.
"Already on it. No leads yet." He paused. "By the way, Nathan enrolled you in the fashion design competition. The PT Company design director position—"
Evelyn cut him off. "You want me to design personally? Should all the world's designers just quit?"
Silence filled the line for two seconds.
Click. She hung up. Her gaze shifted to the twins across the dining table.
Gabrielle immediately shielded the toddlers. "Evelyn, they just learned to crawl. You're already planning their succession?"
Evelyn speared a piece of steak. "With their IQ, when can I retire?"
"Dream on." Gabrielle wiped cereal off her niece's face. "Your face screams 'workaholic.'"
Evelyn turned to Victoria.
Victoria buried herself in cutting steak, pretending not to notice.
Evelyn sighed. Her peripheral vision caught her son quietly eating while her daughter smeared oatmeal everywhere.
"Gabrielle, isn't it time to wean them?"
Gabrielle pulled a parenting manual from under the high chair. "Experts recommend breastfeeding twins until age three."
Evelyn's fork clattered onto the plate.
"Which expert?"
"Black and white right here." Gabrielle pointed. "Boosts immunity. Enhances brain development."
Evelyn arched a brow. "I never had breastmilk. Turned out fine."
"You didn't have a choice." Gabrielle wiped her nephew's mouth. "Now we compensate."
Evelyn: "......"
The dining room door burst open.
"Felicia!" Scarlett rushed in breathlessly.
Three adults simultaneously turned to the children eating breakfast.
