Chapter 241

Evelyn looked up at him. "The test hasn't started yet. Wait for Zachary's notice."

"Understood!" Vincent clenched his fists, his gaze resolute.

Evelyn turned toward the car door.

Vincent stepped ahead and pulled it open, shielding her head with his palm.

"Careful," he said softly.

Evelyn paused mid-step. The once-arrogant young master of the Ashcroft family was now uncharacteristically deferential.

She pressed her lips together and slid into the car.

Zachary pressed the accelerator, and the black sedan rolled away.

Vincent remained standing, spitting out a mouthful of blood.

"Still waiting..." He wiped the corner of his mouth.

His father had warned him—countless eyes would be watching him this month. Only after passing the evaluation could he enter Falcon Training Camp.

In just a few days, he'd tasted the fickleness of the world.

Those who once fawned over him now avoided him like the plague.

"Vincent?" Adrian emerged from the shadows.

Vincent lifted his gaze. "Something you need, Mr. Valentine?"

"What were you doing just now?" Adrian's eyes were sharp.

Vincent scoffed. "Adrian, any regrets about the divorce?"

Adrian's fingers tightened.

"Who is she?" He stared at Vincent.

Vincent raised a brow. "Your ex-wife. What, only now that you're divorced do you care to ask?"

He took a step closer. "Honestly, I should thank you. If you hadn't let her go, I wouldn't have had a chance."

Adrian's expression turned icy.

"Get lost," he said, voice frigid.

Vincent laughed loudly as he walked away.

Adrian stood rooted in place, his chest tight.

"Drink?" Julian appeared out of nowhere.

Adrian nodded silently.

"Your place," Julian suggested.

Adrian turned and strode off, his phone vibrating in his pocket.

Julian glanced at it. "Isabella?"

"Shut up," Adrian warned, his tone dangerous.

Julian shrugged. "Someone's in a mood."

They arrived at the villa.

Julian scanned the surroundings. "Still living here?"

Adrian's hand paused as he uncorked the bottle.

"I thought you'd have moved in with Isabella by now," Julian continued.

A glass slammed onto the table.

"Looking to die?" Adrian's eyes darkened.

Julian wisely kept quiet.

Outside, the moonlight was cold and indifferent.
