Chapter 202
Felicia lay down obediently, her tiny hands resting neatly by her sides.
Then she suddenly sat up and planted a loud kiss on Evelyn's cheek before settling back with a satisfied grin.
Just as Evelyn reached for the lamp, the little girl kicked off her blanket.
Her tiny foot landed squarely on her brother's waist as she pretended to sleep, eyes tightly shut.
Evelyn sighed in exasperation. "Felicia Roland, if your brother could talk, he'd scold you for sure."
She tucked the blanket back around her daughter.
"One more kick and you're getting a spanking."
Felicia blinked her big eyes and suddenly reached for the hem of Evelyn's shirt.
"You little schemer," Evelyn chuckled, pinching her nose.
First the blanket kick. Then the foot on her brother.
All leading to her real goal.
"Mm..." The baby finally got what she wanted, nursing contentedly with half-lidded eyes.
Within ten minutes, she was sound asleep.
Evelyn kissed her forehead and was about to sleep when her phone vibrated.
"Adrian Valentine" flashed on the screen.
She answered with a frown. "Yes?"
"Madam—"
"It's Evelyn," she cut in coldly. "Adrian and I are divorced."
Victor's voice was urgent. "Ms. Roland, the CEO is badly injured. He's been in the bath for an hour refusing to come out—"
"Is he dead?" Evelyn scoffed. "If not, call an ambulance. If yes, contact the morgue."
Her finger hovered over the end call button.
"Take your problems to Isabella. Don't bother me." She paused. "Did he expect mercy after sending thugs to ruin me tonight?"
The call disconnected with finality.
At the Valentine estate, Adrian leaned back on the sofa, listening to the dial tone through the speaker.
Victor swallowed hard. "Sir, she's truly furious this time..."
Before, she'd drop everything to rush home if he was hurt.
Now she wouldn't even spare a word of concern.
Adrian's jaw tightened. "Does she... really not care at all anymore?"
Victor sighed. "You pushed her away yet still hope she'll come back..."
The world didn't work that way.
