Chapter 194
The man's pupils contracted violently, his entire body trembling like a leaf. Never in his wildest dreams had he imagined this seemingly fragile orphan possessed such formidable skills.
Evelyn pressed her foot down on his arm, her brow arching slightly before abruptly increasing the pressure. The crisp sound of snapping bones cut through the night air.
"Ah—!" The man let out a pig-like squeal.
"Want more?" Evelyn's voice was colder than a winter night.
Sweat poured down the man's face from the agony, yet he still managed a sneer. "Evelyn Roland, even if you kill me, it won't change the fact that Adrian Valentine rejected you! Tonight, you drugged his food trying to seduce him, but instead, you ended up with Julian Roscente. You filthy—"
"Drugged?" Her gaze turned glacial.
Suddenly, she recalled Julian's strange behavior earlier. So Victor Ashcroft had assumed she was the one who spiked the drink, sending these men to ruin her.
Adrian, who had just stepped out of his car, overheard the accusation, his brow furrowing.
Zachary Deross finished dealing with the other four men and quickly returned to Evelyn's side, whispering, "Boss, Adrian is over there."
Evelyn whirled around, her eyes blazing with fury.
The silver nunchaku in her hand became a streak of lightning, slicing through the air before crashing onto Adrian's shoulder with a resounding thud.
"Ugh!" Adrian grunted, staring at her in disbelief.
She picked up the nunchaku and advanced toward him, her red lips curling into a mocking smile. "You'll stop at nothing to drive me away, won't you?"
"Accusing me of drugging you?" Her voice rose sharply. "You're not even worthy of eating food I ordered. If I want to deal with someone, I do it openly!"
"I tolerated you before out of respect for Beatrice." Her words were measured and icy. "From now on, forget it."
Adrian urgently explained, "I had nothing to do with tonight."
Evelyn paused mid-step, turning back with scorn. "Adrian Valentine, since when did you become such a coward? Even a dog knows you're the one behind this smear campaign!"
"Trying to push me to my death?" A dangerous glint flashed in her eyes. "Even if I die, it won't be for a man like you!"
"Remember this—you're only fit to watch from the sidelines in my world. Dare to cross me again—" The nunchaku spun in her hand with lethal grace. "—and you'll face the consequences."
Adrian's chest ached with realization as he spotted Lin Pang. It was Victor's doing. That idiot actually dared to touch what was his!
Sirens wailed in the distance.
Lin Pang scrambled toward Adrian in panic. "Mr. Valentine! We were just teaching that bitch a lesson for you! You have to help us!"
