Chapter 169
Cassandra Valentine held her phone with a sweet smile curling her lips. "Isabella, thanks for the heads-up. That Evelyn Roland is such a shameless woman. First, my brother dumps her, and now she's throwing herself at Julian Roscente. How desperate can she be to climb the social ladder?"
"Don't worry, I won't do anything reckless. Thanks for the bag you sent me. See you tomorrow!"
"See you!" Isabella Langley hung up, her face twisting into a sneer.
Evelyn was a complete failure—everyone despised her except the old lady.
Ever since Adrian Valentine got together with Isabella, the entire Valentine family had welcomed her with open arms.
Margaret Valentine, in particular, treated her like a daughter. Not only did she give her a black card with unlimited spending, but she also sent her limited-edition designer clothes every season.
According to the servants at the Valentine estate, Margaret had never bought Evelyn a single thing.
How pathetic Evelyn's life was.
At the same time...
Inside a private lounge at a bar, Margaret Valentine sipped red wine alone after seeing off a client.
Her assistant, Jonathan Savigny, entered and locked the door behind him. His gaze burned as it landed on Eleanor Langley, who sat elegantly with her wineglass.
"You're breathtaking, Eleanor." Jonathan slid onto the couch beside her, his arm snaking around her waist.
Eleanor leaned into him, her red lips curving. "Bold of you. Aren't you afraid someone might see?"
She adored this man, several years her junior. He knew how to please her far better than Vincent Langley ever had.
Jonathan's hands wandered. Despite nearing fifty, Eleanor's skin remained as taut as a woman in her thirties.
"Eleanor..." He captured her lips in a heated kiss.
Fueled by alcohol, Eleanor responded with equal passion.
Soon, the lounge was filled with the sounds of their entanglement.
Afterward, Jonathan tenderly adjusted her clothes.
Eleanor lounged against him lazily, her voice laced with warning. "Behave in public. If Vincent finds out, your entire family will pay the price."
Jonathan brushed his lips against hers. "I'd die for you. I became your assistant all those years ago because I was already obsessed with you."
He pulled out his phone and played a video.
"Look. Adrian still cares about his ex-wife. Evelyn stormed out of that private room—any man can guess what happened."
Eleanor's eyes locked onto Evelyn's striking face, jealousy twisting inside her.
"Leak this to the press. Say Evelyn seduced Isabella's fiancé. That way, Isabella's past schemes against her will seem justified."
Jonathan hesitated. "But this would expose Isabella as the other woman..."
"Are you threatening Adrian?" Eleanor cut him off with a cold laugh. "He fell for Isabella at first sight. He tossed Evelyn aside like trash. Your idea is idiotic."
