Chapter 87
Commotion erupted at the police station entrance.
Isabella Valentine strutted in on stilettos, deliberately ramming her shoulder into Sophia Lowell as she passed.
Sophia staggered back, clutching her rounded belly to steady herself.
"Ms. Lowell?"
A gentle male voice came from behind.
Sebastian Valdemar, dressed in beige casual wear with an elite-looking lawyer in tow, hurried forward to steady her. "Careful."
"Thank you." Sophia recognized him as the man who'd saved her at the hospital. "Mr. Valdemar, what brings you here?"
"Handling a minor incident." His gaze swept over her pale complexion. "You don't look well."
She forced a smile. "A friend's in some trouble."
Inside the interrogation room, Vivian Ashcroft slammed the table. "This is a setup!"
Isabella's assistant sneered. "Officer, she's utterly unrepentant."
"We have new evidence." Sophia pushed the door open and slapped a file on the table. "The person who sent Vivian that video has been found."
Isabella's face drained of color.
Sebastian's lawyer stepped forward. "I'm the legal director of Valdemar Group. This case appears to have discrepancies."
The officer took the file, his brow furrowing as he read.
Vivian lifted her chin triumphantly. "Now you see who's lying?"
Isabella shot to her feet, nails digging into her palms. She hadn't anticipated this wildcard.
Sophia exchanged a glance with Sebastian.
Outside, the setting sun stretched their shadows long across the pavement.
