Chapter 495

Ethan Roscente was too proud and arrogant. If he discovered she was carrying another man's child, his fury would be catastrophic.

She knew him too well.

That man never forgot a slight. He would never tolerate such humiliation.

But should she use Sebastian Valdemar to escape Ethan?

Sophia Lowell clenched her fists.

Her nails dug deep into her palms.

She couldn't do this.

Sebastian had no idea how ruthless Ethan could be.

Vivian Ashcroft had nearly lost her acting career because of her. She couldn't drag anyone else into this mess.

"No." She shook her head vehemently. "It's too dangerous."

Sebastian studied her shifting expressions, his voice gentle. "Sophia, I'm doing this willingly."

"No!" Her refusal was absolute. "I won't allow it."

She reached for the car door.

His fingers lightly encircled her wrist.

"At least tell me why," he murmured, a wounded note in his voice.

Sophia lowered her lashes.

She didn't want this debt of gratitude.

Nor could she bear to betray his sincerity.

"I'm sorry..."

"Is it because I have feelings for you?" He asked bluntly.

The tips of her ears burned.

Her pulse spiked.

She turned her face away in fluster.

Sebastian released her with a soft sigh. "My feelings are my own. You don't owe me anything."

"Sebastian..."

The words stuck in her throat.

He tactfully changed the subject. "Let me take you home."

Night deepened.

He circled to the passenger side and opened the door with gentlemanly grace.

As Sophia stepped out, her foot slipped.

"Careful!"

Warm hands steadied her.

"I think I twisted my ankle," she winced.

Sebastian knelt, examining it carefully. "No swelling. It shouldn't be serious."

She hastily withdrew her foot.

"I can walk."

"You're pregnant. Let me escort you upstairs."

Streetlights stretched their shadows long across the pavement.

Not far away.

A black Maybach idled beneath the trees.

The window was half-lowered.

The cigarette between Ethan Roscente's fingers had burned to the filter.

His icy gaze tracked the intimate pair.

A tempest raged in his eyes.
