Chapter 275
Ethan's brows furrowed as his dark gaze pinned her in place. "Do you think I'm joking?"
"Every word is true." Sophia yawned, stretching lazily. "But showing up at 1 AM to discuss this? Ridiculous."
He shot to his feet, eyes blazing. "All because of your heartless attitude!"
She shrugged and burrowed under the covers. "I never stopped you from sleeping. Mr. Roscente, go home. I'm exhausted from keeping your paycheck alive."
Her drowsy eyes flicked to the wall clock. "Even ghosts wouldn't be awake at this hour. In my current state, I'm above the law. If I accidentally push you off the 28th floor..."
Before she could finish, he abruptly turned.
Sophia smirked inwardly. Playing crazy always worked with men like him.
"Close the door on your way— Wait!" Her eyes widened. "Was your night blindness fake? That's the bathroom!"
The sound of running water made her punch the mattress in frustration.
This bastard had planned this all along!
The water stopped abruptly.
"No towel." His deep voice carried through the door.
"Come out naked then," she taunted.
"As you wish." The doorknob turned, making her bolt upright.
"Wait!" She grabbed the used towel from her nightstand and rushed forward. "Here!"
She averted her gaze, ears burning.
Her wrist was suddenly seized. The world spun as her back hit the tiled wall.
Ethan stood perfectly dressed in his suit—no trace of a shower.
"Ethan Roscente, you—"
"The night is short." He nipped her earlobe. "How about joining me for a bath, Secretary Lowell?"
"You promised not to touch me!" She kicked out.
He dodged effortlessly, loosening his tie with one hand. "I changed my mind."
