Chapter 168
I stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing at the city lights below.
The night wind rushed through the half-open window, tousling my hair.
My phone screen lit up with a message from Ethan Roscente: "Business dinner tonight. Don’t wait up."
I stared at it until the screen went dark.
The signed divorce papers lay on the coffee table, waiting for the final step.
The doorbell rang.
I opened the door to find Bianca Savigny standing there.
She wore the red dress Ethan loved most, her makeup flawless.
"Aren’t you going to invite me in, sis?" She smiled sweetly.
I stepped aside.
Her eyes swept the room, lingering on the documents.
"So you’ve finally come to your senses." She settled onto the sofa. "Ethan said he has a surprise for me tonight."
I poured her a glass of water.
"Do you know what he loves most about me?" She took the glass. "He says I’m more understanding than you."
I remained silent.
"Oh," she pulled a photo from her bag, "this was taken in the Maldives last week."
In the picture, Ethan held her waist as they kissed at sunset.
My fingers trembled slightly.
"You’ve actually been divorced for a while, haven’t you?" she said suddenly. "You just refused to sign."
My head snapped up.
She smirked. "Ethan told me everything."
Outside, lightning split the sky.
The rain poured down in sheets.
