Chapter 209
The rain poured down in sheets as Ethan Roscente shoved Sophia Lowell into the backseat with swift efficiency.
"Take her home."
The car door slammed shut, sending water splashing.
Sophia quickly rolled down the window. "It's pouring! How will you get back?"
"I won't die."
He turned and walked away, his figure soon swallowed by the rain.
As the bodyguard hit the gas, Sophia craned her neck to look back. "Is it really okay to leave him here alone?"
"Mr. Roscente has already arranged for a car."
The rain grew heavier. Ethan stood by the roadside, lighting a cigarette. Water trailed down his jawline, soaking his shirt.
His phone screen flickered before going dark.
"Damn it."
He pressed the power button furiously, but the device remained unresponsive.
Cold rain lashed his face as he glared at the empty street, his expression darker than the storm clouds.
......
The Valentine mansion blazed with light as a bolt of lightning split the night sky.
"Useless! Can't even keep a man!"
William Valentine's palm struck hard, sending Isabella Valentine stumbling to the floor.
"Dad, I'm sorry—" She crawled forward on her knees, clutching his pant leg. "Give me another chance—"
"Another chance?" William kicked over the coffee table. "Ethan Roscente humiliated me to my face!"
The shattering glass made Isabella tremble violently.
"It's Sophia! That bitch seduced Ethan!" she shrieked suddenly. "If we just get rid of her—"
"Enough!" William yanked her up by the collar. "You have three days. If you fail, we'll replace you in the marriage alliance."
Isabella collapsed to the floor, her nails digging deep into her palms.
Once her father left, she pulled out her phone, her eyes glinting with venom.
......
Sophia sneezed, bundled in a blanket.
Pregnant women couldn't take medicine. She sighed, clutching a mug of hot water.
The steady patter of rain filled the room as she traced the rivulets on the windowpane with her gaze.
