Chapter 348
Sophia shot Ethan Roscente a warning glare, silently urging him to stop talking.
She just wanted to be an ordinary teacher without any connection to the Roscente family.
Ethan ignored her, ruffling her hair with a fond chuckle. "Silly girl, why refuse a ready-made advantage? I donated an entire building to this school. Can’t I even get you a spot?"
"Roscentes never settle for less." He pinched her cheek. "Remember that, little niece."
Dylan Langley’s gaze darted between them.
As a man, he instantly recognized the look in Ethan’s eyes—it wasn’t the way an uncle should look at his niece.
It was more like...
He quickly lowered his head, not daring to watch further.
Sophia flushed at Ethan’s sudden intimacy. Even if he wanted to back her up, did he have to be so hands-on in public? She wished the ground would swallow her.
Under Ethan’s forceful intervention, the position was returned to Sophia. Dylan opened his mouth to protest, but a sharp look from the principal silenced him.
"Don’t push your luck," the principal muttered in warning.
Frederick Aldridge immediately caught on, dragging Dylan away.
The principal turned to Sophia with an ingratiating smile. "Professor Lowell, this was an administrative oversight. Thank you for catching it before it became a scandal."
Sophia knew it was favoritism disguised as a mistake, but she played along. "You’re too kind, Principal Rubinstein."
"Mr. Roscente, does this resolution meet your approval?" the principal asked cautiously.
Ethan smirked. "You’ve handled it fairly. I trust with your leadership, my niece won’t face further… inconveniences."
Beads of sweat formed on the principal’s forehead. "Of course! Professor Lowell can come directly to me with any concerns!"
Once they were alone, Sophia jerked her hand away. "Are you out of your mind?"
