Chapter 347
"Of course we can handle this."
The principal's obsequious bowing made Dean Frederick Aldridge and Professor Dylan Langley exchange nervous glances. Before they could speak, Jason Roscente cut in.
He pointed at Dylan. "If you're so capable, start by dealing with this professor. He's been preaching that education is worthless, claiming underprivileged students like us are born to serve silver-spoon elites like him—"
"Principal, don't listen to his lies!" Dylan interrupted in panic.
His defense sounded feeble against Jason's accusations.
Jason raised his voice. "Oh, and he also said you only got your position through nepotism. That's why he dared steal Sophia Lowell's tenure spot right under your nose."
Clutching his chest dramatically, Jason added, "I have a weak heart. If Ms. Lowell hadn't caught me, I'd be hospitalized by now."
The principal's face darkened as he glared at the ashen-faced dean and professor. "Laying hands on a student? Smashing phones? Is this how you uphold professional standards?"
Beads of sweat formed on Frederick's forehead. "Principal, Jason started—"
"Started what?" The principal snapped. "Apologize to him immediately!"
Fuming but cornered, the two men muttered reluctant apologies.
Jason scoffed. "What about Ms. Lowell's tenure?"
Ethan Roscente chose that moment to speak, his tone laced with mockery. "So promotions here depend on connections, not merit?" His sidelong glance caught Sophia's tightened brow.
This woman. Even when wronged, she resented his interference.
He yanked the retreating Sophia to his side. "Apparently the Roscente name carries no weight here if we can't even secure a tenure position."
"The Roscentes?"
"Your niece?"
Frederick and Dylan froze as if struck by lightning. Their surreptitious scrutiny of Ethan quickly confirmed the identity of the Roscente family's heir.
Ethan Roscente—the crown prince of the Roscente dynasty.
