Chapter 333

"You didn't know?" Jessica's face twisted in surprise.

Sophia blinked in confusion. "Know what?"

"The company already cleared your name regarding the trade secret leak. It was Isabella's mistake, not yours." Jessica lowered her voice. "And you resigned voluntarily—you weren't fired. Mr. Roscente had Zachary issue a company-wide announcement."

Sophia froze.

She had no idea.

"Mr. Roscente didn't tell you?" Jessica looked even more shocked.

Sophia shook her head, bitterness rising in her throat.

What did it matter now?

The damage was done. No after-the-fact fixes could erase it.

"Oh," Jessica suddenly remembered, "a few people from Logistics got fired too."

"Logistics?"

"That elevator incident." Jessica leaned in conspiratorially. "Mr. Roscente discovered it was a setup between the Executive Office and Logistics. He terminated everyone involved last week."

Sophia's breath caught.

After that elevator malfunction, she'd passed out from claustrophobia.

She never expected Ethan to reopen the investigation.

"Mr. Roscente was furious. The whole company's been walking on eggshells." Jessica shuddered at the memory.

Sophia pressed her lips together.

Her eyes suddenly burned.

Like someone had finally stood up for her after enduring injustice for so long.

They reached the CEO's office entrance.

Lost in thought, Sophia collided with an employee carrying files.

Papers scattered across the floor.

"Sorry!" She immediately knelt to help gather them.

"No worries." The woman smiled.

As Sophia organized the documents, her gaze snagged on a signature—"Gregory Wu."

"Golden Gate Securities?" she murmured.

Jessica peeked over. "Gregory oversees Mr. Roscente's bank loan portfolio. He's transferring to headquarters soon."

"Bank?" Sophia's head jerked up. "Ethan owns a bank?"

"Bayview Financial Group." Jessica whispered. "I only found out recently. Mr. Roscente keeps things close to the vest."

Sophia felt like lightning had struck her.

Bayview Financial!

That was the loan shark institution Emily had borrowed from!

So when Ethan repaid her debt... he'd just transferred money between his own accounts?

She'd been played.

Completely and utterly played.

Rage turned her vision red.
