Chapter 408

A black luxury van idled outside the Roscente Tower, its windows reflecting the city's neon glow.

Isabella Valentine clenched her skirt, her nails digging into her palms.

Gazing up at the steel-and-glass monolith, she felt a flicker of hesitation for the first time.

Every minute from the airport had been torture. Countless calls went unanswered.

"I have to see him..." she murmured, biting her lip.

She'd agree to anything—just to salvage tomorrow's wedding. The photos, the scandal—all of it could be pinned on someone else.

"It was all my assistant's idea..." The rehearsed lie played on loop in her mind.

Two bodyguards trailed her, carrying elegant afternoon tea gift boxes.

"Ms. Valentine here to visit again?" The receptionist beamed. "Mr. Roscente is so lucky."

"With the wedding tomorrow, you're still delivering treats? What a perfect fiancée."

"We can't wait for the celebration!"

The syrupy praise eased her tension slightly. She gestured for the bodyguards to distribute red envelopes.

The elevator doors slid shut, mirroring her meticulously applied makeup.

The executive floor staff had gotten the memo, lining up at the elevator bank.

"Welcome, Mrs. Roscente!" The chorus of greetings rang out—except for Jessica, who kept typing without looking up.

Jessica smirked, recalling that pretty girl always summoned to the CEO's office alone.

Who knew she'd turn out to be a Roscente niece?

Shaking her head, Jessica refocused on her files. At least she hadn't mocked the girl like those fired colleagues.
