Chapter 68

The words "Precious Darling" burned my eyes.

What an intimate pet name.

I stared at my phone screen, nails digging deep into my palms.

Ethan Roscente had given Sophia Lowell such an affectionate contact name.

My instincts had been right all along.

They'd been carrying on behind my back.

It wasn't just that shameless bitch Sophia throwing herself at him—Ethan had feelings for her too.

The thought of him refusing to even touch me while rolling in bed with Sophia made me tremble with rage.

Sophia Lowell!

You shameless whore!

I'll make sure you pay for this!

Inside the black Maybach, Ethan casually tossed his suit jacket to Zachary Evans.

"Dispose of it."

His long fingers loosened his tie, revealing his Adam's apple.

Zachary winced at the sight of the expensive custom-made suit. The boss's wardrobe attrition rate had skyrocketed lately.

He made a mental note to destroy the garment before reporting, "Mr. Roland said the blueprints were sent to Luming Architectural Studio. They'll send the draft for your review."

During dinner, Felix Roland had left abruptly after a phone call.

Ethan gave a distracted hum, his gaze dropping to his phone.

"Mr. Roscente."

Simon Sherwood's voice came through the line.

Ethan lounged against the leather seat, crossing his long legs.

"Her reaction?"

"Miss Lowell is furious."

The man's lips curved into a faint smile.

"Good."

If she dared to claim they were even, she'd face the consequences.

Either repay the money obediently or stay by his side.

Knowing Sophia, she couldn't possibly produce six million.

He spun the phone between his fingers, waiting for her pleading call.

But by afternoon, all he received was a bank notification.

Six million.

Not a cent less.

Ethan's face darkened instantly.

"Sir..." Zachary ventured nervously, "Miss Lowell texted me."

The man's eyes turned icy. "Read it."

Zachary swallowed hard and forced out the words. "Debt cleared. Hope Mr. Roscente keeps his word and stops clinging like a desperate leech..."

The air in the car froze.

"And?"

Zachary skimmed the string of expletives that followed and wisely skipped them.

"N-nothing else..."

Ethan let out a cold laugh, undoing his top button.

"How impressive."
