Chapter 342
"Director Aldridge, my internship evaluation score was clearly the highest. Why isn't my name on the final admission list?"
Sophia stood before the office desk, her fingertips turning white from gripping too tightly.
Frederick Aldridge slowly unscrewed his thermos. Steam rose as he offered a benign smile. "Sophia, the competition was quite fierce this time—"
"My name was on last month's public notice." Sophia cut him off. "Why was it replaced with Dylan Langley's?"
The thermos slammed onto the desk with a thud.
"Who showed you that list?" Aldridge's expression darkened instantly. "That violates protocol!"
Sophia smirked. She certainly wouldn't reveal that Margaret from the academic office had tipped her off.
"Dylan missed three shifts, took four personal leaves, and has five student complaints about his inappropriate jokes." She pulled a folder from her bag. "Should I submit this evidence to the disciplinary committee?"
A bead of sweat trickled down Aldridge's temple.
"Young people shouldn't be so inflexible." He lowered his voice. "Dylan's uncle is President Rubinstein. Surely you understand my position?"
Sophia's pupils constricted. So that was it.
"Here's what I'll do," Aldridge suddenly adopted a conciliatory tone. "I'll approve three extra months' salary for you, plus a recommendation letter—"
"No need."
As Sophia turned to leave, a cold laugh followed her. "Don't think being close to Professor Orlando makes you special. He's being transferred soon."
Her hand froze on the doorknob.
So this scheme had been targeting her all along.
