Chapter 322
"That bastard Ethan Roscente!" Vivian Ashcroft trembled with rage, her fingers clenching the phone. "Too busy pampering his unattainable love while Sophia's in trouble!"
Her eyes were bloodshot, voice shaking. "Sophia must be terrified right now..."
Jason Roscente frowned. "Calm down. Let me hear Sophia's voice message."
The elevator doors opened. He pulled Vivian toward the parking garage.
Vivian fumbled with her phone, fingers trembling as she played the recording.
"Viv... I-I think I killed someone..."
Sophia's tearful voice crackled through the speaker, background noise chaotic.
Jason's face darkened. He yanked the car door open. "Get in."
The sports car roared to life, tires screeching against asphalt.
Vivian gripped the seatbelt, nails digging into leather.
"Relax." Jason kept his eyes on the road, hands steady on the wheel. "If it was self-defense, she'll be fine."
"You sure?" Her voice wavered.
Jason nodded. "I know penal code by heart. Let's call my uncle first."
The moment the call connected, Vivian exploded.
"Ethan Roscente, you deserve to die! If anything happens to Sophia, I'll bury you with her!"
Jason cleared his throat. "Focus."
"Get to the police station now!" Vivian hissed. "She must be scared out of her mind alone!"
A lighter clicked on the other end.
"She's not in Hong Kong." Ethan's voice sounded ragged.
"What?"
In a dim hallway, Ethan leaned against Sophia's apartment door. Cigarette butts littered the floor, his dress shirt crumpled beyond recognition.
