Chapter 290

Sophia shook out the men's athletic set, her brows furrowed.

"Does this look like it would fit me?"

Ethan Roscente stood with one hand in his pocket, his gaze sweeping over her frame.

"If a man can wear it, why can't you?"

Her fists clenched.

She wanted to rip that smug smirk right off his face.

Ethan checked his wristwatch, his tone leaving no room for argument.

"Five minutes. Or I'll help you change myself."

Sophia took a sharp breath and turned toward the dressing room.

Just as she pushed the door open, his fingers closed around her wrist.

His breath was hot against her ear.

"I'm quite experienced at undressing women. Need assistance?"

She wrenched her arm free.

"Get lost!"

The dressing room door slammed shut with enough force to rattle the walls.

Five minutes later, Sophia emerged drowning in oversized sportswear.

The long sleeves and pants swallowed her whole, making her look like a walking burlap sack.

Ethan gave an approving nod before striding toward the golf course.

His pristine white athletic wear accentuated his broad shoulders and long legs, radiating aristocratic elegance.

Sophia glanced down at her own ridiculous outfit.

She might as well be a child playing dress-up in her father's clothes.

Dominic Valrose nearly choked on his champagne when he spotted her.

"Where's my eye candy?"

He glared at Lydia Merovingian, who wore a scandalously skimpy outfit.

Lydia whispered, "I definitely packed the lingerie set..."

Dominic's eyes narrowed at Ethan holding court among a flock of admiring women.

"Someone's guarding his prize."

Lydia frowned. "If Mr. Roscente is this protective of her, perhaps you should—"

Dominic swirled his drink, cutting her off.

"One project in exchange for a pretty little thing? Worth it."

Understanding flashed in Lydia's eyes.

"Miss Lowell, that outfit is... quite unique," Dominic called out loudly.

Sophia forced a smile.

"You flatter me, Mr. Valrose."

Wealthy heirs lounged by the sidelines, each with scantily clad women draped over them.

As Ethan and Dominic headed for the golf carts, Sophia remained under a sun umbrella.

"Haven't seen you around before."

A man in a floral shirt sauntered over with a cocktail.

Lydia smiled. "This is Mr. Roscente's secretary, Sophia."

The man's eyes lit up.

"An honored guest! You simply must join me for a drink."
