Chapter 203
That afternoon while shopping, Vivian Ashcroft had instantly fallen in love with this pair of shoes and insisted Sophia buy them. Now her entire outfit, from head to toe, reflected Vivian's taste.
Jason Roscente's expression shifted instantly. "Actually, they look quite nice on you."
Sophia Lowell: "..."
His mood swings were ridiculously fast.
"What are you doing!"
Ethan Roscente's furious roar came from behind them. When he reached the parking lot, he saw Jason holding Sophia in his arms, his face darkening with rage.
Sophia glanced back at him without a word, yanking open the car door. "Drive."
Jason eyed Ethan's murderous expression. "Really not waiting for him?"
"Wait for him to demand an apology?" Sophia scoffed. "Dream on."
She slapped the seat impatiently. "Go. Now."
Jason shrugged and started the engine. The parking barrier blocked Ethan's path, and by the time he detoured around it, only the retreating taillights remained.
Ethan punched the steering wheel and slammed on the gas in pursuit.
Inside the car, Jason kept stealing glances at Sophia.
"What?" She bristled under his stare.
"You and Uncle Ethan have history." His tone was certain.
Sophia's heartbeat stuttered. "Don't be ridiculous."
"The way he looks at you isn't normal."
"Please. You're seeing things."
"Men understand men," Jason said meaningfully. "Especially that particular look."
Sophia rolled her eyes. "Since when did a brat like you become an expert?"
"In ancient times, men my age were already fathers."
"..."
Modern teenagers were impossible.
"Out with it. Did you two have something going on?" Jason pressed.
Sophia exhaled sharply. "It's over."
"Is it?" Jason smirked. "Uncle Ethan doesn't seem to think so."
"You're blind—"
A blaring horn cut her off. Jason checked the rearview mirror. "Uncle's catching up. Told you so."
"Unless you want to call me Aunt Sophia, step on it."
"Wouldn't bother me," Jason drawled. "Someone's got to fill that role eventually."
Sophia twisted to see the approaching headlights and tried a new tactic. "Some race car driver you are."
"Reverse psychology won't work on me." Jason remained unflappable. "I respect my elders."
"Oh?" Sophia arched a brow. "But Vivian can't stand him. Guess you're incompatible after all."
