Chapter 200

Tiffany Roscente seized the opportunity instantly. Tears streamed down her face as she choked out, "Uncle Ethan, it's all my fault..."

William Valentine snorted coldly, his gaze sharp as a blade as it sliced toward Sophia Lowell. "Do you really need reminding at an event like this? Clearly, you have no respect for the Roscentes!"

Sophia's fingertips trembled slightly.

If she stayed silent any longer, this farce would be twisted entirely into her wrongdoing.

"Mr. Valentine," Sophia lifted her eyes, her voice cool and composed. "You just said this was a Roscente family matter. Since your daughter isn't married into the family yet, isn't your interference disrespectful to the Roscentes?"

"How dare you!" William slammed his hand on the table, his face dark with fury. "Is this how you speak to your elders?"

He turned to Ethan Roscente, his tone ominous. "Ethan, if this isn't resolved today, I doubt the old man will be pleased."

Sophia straightened her spine.

"If you feel insulted, Mr. Valentine, I apologize." She inclined her head slightly, her posture respectful but not submissive.

Her composure only fueled William's anger.

"Ethan Roscente!" he barked. "Is this the upbringing of a Roscente?"

"Sophia!"

Jason Roscente's voice suddenly rang out from the entrance. Behind him was Tyler Roland, both striding forward briskly.

Jason swept his gaze across the room, pausing briefly on William before scoffing. "Tyler, your birthday party sure is lively."

Tyler caught on immediately, raising his voice deliberately. "Isn't it? A perfectly good celebration, and yet some outsiders insist on meddling."

William's expression turned stormy.

Sophia turned to leave but froze at the sound of an icy command.

"Stay where you are."

Ethan's eyes were frigid, lingering on Jason's protective hand on Sophia's arm.

"Sophia," his voice was like ice. "Apologize to Tiffany and Mr. Valentine."

Sophia's heart twisted sharply.
