Chapter 161

The golden glow of sunset streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Sophia curled up in the beanbag chair, flipping through a book. Vivian's apartment now looked completely refreshed after her meticulous cleaning, even the air smelled crisper.

Her phone buzzed. A message from Theodore popped up: "The proposal got approved. The client loved it."

Sophia arched an eyebrow. That was much faster than she'd anticipated.

"So soon?" she typed back.

"The client couldn't stop praising your design," Theodore replied instantly. Then came the ellipsis: "But..."

Sophia stared at those three dots, her fingers lightly tapping the book's pages.

The phone suddenly rang.

"The client wants to meet the designer," Theodore's voice came through the receiver. "It's a joint project between the Roscentes and Rolands."

Sophia's grip tightened.

Ethan Roscente and Felix Roland.

Those names pierced her nerves like needles.

"I'm guessing you'd rather not," Theodore said gently. "I can decline for you."

The distant sound of ocean waves drifted through the window. Sophia gazed at the churning sea in the distance.

She knew Ethan too well. Once that man grew suspicious, he wouldn't let go easily. Refusing this meeting could mean the entire proposal getting scrapped.

"Let me think about it," she murmured.

After hanging up, Sophia massaged her temples. This wasn't just about her—it involved Luming Studio's reputation. Her mentor had been anticipating this long-term collaboration for ages. She couldn't let personal feelings ruin it.

The sea breeze lifted the curtains, carrying its briny scent. Sophia took a deep breath and picked up her phone.

"I'll meet them."
