Chapter 99
The first plane crash had shattered Evelyn's illusions about Nathan and their marriage. It left her heartbroken, realizing that giving more would only lead to more pain.
Now, during this second accident, she found herself completely alone.
Tears blurred Evelyn's vision as she stared at the cracked screen of her phone.
Outside, the storm howled as a sleek black helicopter descended. A commanding figure in a tailored suit emerged, his presence radiating power.
The moment his polished shoes touched the tarmac, his piercing gaze locked onto his target. He moved with purpose through the chaos.
The helicopter's arrival caused a stir among the rescued passengers. Whispers spread like wildfire.
"Is that Harrison Whitmore? Who's he here for?"
Evelyn kept her head down, but the comment made fresh tears spill over her cheeks.
Everyone had someone coming for them. Everyone except her.
Suddenly, the chatter died down. The only sound was the steady rhythm of approaching footsteps.
Against her better judgment, Evelyn looked up.
Backlit by the helicopter's searchlights, the man walked past rows of hopeful faces, coming straight toward her.
Her vision swam with tears, but the silhouette looked hauntingly familiar. When he was just steps away, her lips formed a name without thinking.
"Harrison?"
He stopped before her, his warm hands cradling her face. His thumb brushed away her tears with surprising tenderness.
"I've got you, Evelyn."
His deep voice instantly soothed the storm inside her. His firm grip on her hand anchored her to reality.
Blinking away tears, she studied him properly. Chiseled jaw, intense eyes - every inch the powerful CEO.
She'd believed herself abandoned, yet her knight had come after all.
Around them, excited whispers erupted.
"That's Harrison Whitmore! I can't believe he's here!"
"A helicopter rescue? That's next level romance."
Amidst the flashing cameras and envious stares, Harrison swept Evelyn into his arms and carried her away.
The helicopter's rotors roared to life, kicking up a whirlwind before disappearing into the night sky.
They landed shortly at the Whitmore estate.
Harrison had the staff prepare a warm bath while the family doctor examined Evelyn. Only after receiving the all-clear did his shoulders relax.
Tucking her into bed, he murmured, "Get some rest."
Evelyn burrowed into the blankets obediently.
Then her eyes flew open. "Wait! I need to call Grandfather. My family must be-"
"Already know," Harrison interrupted, handing her a tablet.
The headline screamed: "WHITMORE'S DRAMATIC RESCUE - THE ROMANCE OF THE CENTURY!" Below it was a photo of Harrison carrying her, followed by gushing comments.
"OMG! This is straight out of a movie!"
"Even blurry, they look perfect together!"
"New relationship goals unlocked!"
"Someone get me a billionaire boyfriend!"
Harrison smoothed Evelyn's hair. "Don't worry about the press. I'll handle everything."
Comforted by his assurance, she closed her eyes again.
As Harrison quietly shut the bedroom door, Beatrice appeared, practically vibrating with excitement.
"Harrison! That was magnificent!"
"Mother, the media exaggerates. Don't read too much into it."
Beatrice waved him off. "Nonsense! Leonard and Evelyn's brothers are downstairs right now, demanding answers!"
Harrison sighed. His mother worked fast.
