Chapter 243

Olivia's voice snapped Evelyn out of her thoughts. "Speaking of which, I just remembered something important. We've got a VIP client requesting your personal design services."

"What sort of design?" Evelyn inquired.

Olivia shuffled through the client files on the marble counter before handing one over. "Three million dollar commission with an open deadline. They only want to discuss details with you directly."

Evelyn arched an eyebrow as she accepted the file.

The request was surprisingly simple - just a name and contact number printed neatly on crisp stationery.

"How unusual. Any specific design preferences mentioned?"

"None whatsoever." Olivia shrugged. "The client insisted on speaking with you personally whenever you're available. Should we accept?"

A pleased smile curved Evelyn's lips. "Absolutely. This could be our boutique's most significant commission yet."

"I'll handle the arrangements. My schedule's packed at Kingsley Industries this week, but I'll reach out when things calm down."

"Perfect. We'll proceed as you direct."

The following morning found Evelyn arriving unusually early at the corporate offices. By sheer coincidence, she crossed paths with Adrian in the lobby. Dressed in an impeccably tailored suit, he looked nothing like his usual casual self.

Yet the moment their eyes met, his professional facade cracked.

"Good morning, Ms. Carter!" Adrian greeted with unexpected warmth, his cheerful smile transforming his entire demeanor.

He quickened his pace to join her in the elevator.

"Attending the Monday meeting today?" Adrian inquired.

Evelyn gave a slight nod.

Adrian's grin widened impossibly further.

The weekly Monday meetings were Dominic's tradition, one Evelyn rarely attended. Her presence today clearly surprised him.

"Today's agenda focuses on the Dunhill project budget approval. The bid submission's tomorrow," Adrian explained enthusiastically.

Though familiar with Adrian's business acumen, Evelyn couldn't resist teasing him. "Feeling confident?"

Adrian drew himself up with visible determination. "Ms. Carter, you can count on me! The competition's manageable, and I promise - this won't disappoint you."

Evelyn's lips quirked. "So you've decided to leave us then?"

Adrian nodded solemnly. "Physically perhaps, but my heart remains with Kingsley Industries."

"Then when you secure this project, consider a celebration in your honor."

"You have my word, Ms. Carter."

"Excellent. I'll expect good news."

Evelyn's encouragement acted like rocket fuel for Adrian. His buoyant mood carried through the entire meeting.

Standing before the assembled executives, Adrian spoke with polished confidence. Every gesture, every expression commanded attention, earning nods of approval from the room.

There was no denying it - when serious, Adrian Prescott possessed undeniable charisma.

"All budget reports are finalized. After this meeting, they'll be submitted to Ms. Carter for final approval," Adrian concluded, his gaze sweeping the room before landing on Evelyn.

"Any further comments or concerns?" Evelyn addressed the group.

A unanimous murmur of agreement filled the conference room.

"No objections here. Mr. Prescott's covered every contingency within our projected range."

"We're all anticipating tomorrow's successful bid announcement."
