Chapter 486
Elliot was reaching for his phone to call their private physician when Harrison swiftly intercepted it.
"Every woman goes through this monthly cycle," Harrison explained with an amused smirk. "Let's not make a big deal out of it."
Elliot blinked. They had studied human biology extensively in school.
It took him a second before realization dawned—Harrison was referring to that time of the month.
He exhaled sharply. "You nearly gave me a heart attack! I thought something was seriously wrong!" He turned to Evelyn with a stern look. "You need to take better care of yourself, got it? No more scaring us like this!"
Julian cleared his throat, breaking the awkward tension. "As long as Evelyn's fine, that's all that matters."
Then, with a teasing glint in his eyes, he added, "But—" He gave her a pointed once-over. "You're still out of shape. You need more training."
"I know."
Julian smirked. "And who gave you the confidence to sign up for the 800-meter race on Sports Day? You barely exercise as it is. You're not going to collapse halfway, are you?"
Evelyn's competitive spirit flared instantly.
"Julian, what's that supposed to mean? Who says I can't finish? Not only will I complete it, I'll win a medal just to prove you wrong!"
"Oh really?" Julian folded his arms. "I'll believe it when I see it. But fine—if you actually finish, I'll buy all your snacks for the rest of the semester."
Evelyn's eyes gleamed. "Deal. And you better not back out."
Julian's grin widened. "Oh, I won't. But—" His tone turned sly. "If you don't finish, you owe me a top-tier gaming setup. Highest specs available."
Evelyn clenched her fists. "Fine! It's a bet!"
Elliot immediately pulled Julian aside, hissing under his breath, "Cut it out! You know Evelyn hates exercising. She's only doing this for fun!"
Julian shrugged. "Exactly why I'm pushing her. She needs to get in shape. Don't worry—I won't let her lose too badly."
Elliot sighed. "You'd better not."
Julian turned back to Evelyn with a smirk. "Relax, Elliot. Even if she loses, the gaming set won't bankrupt her. Just one month's allowance, tops."
Evelyn stomped her foot. "I won't lose!"
Julian chuckled. "We'll see."
Once her cycle ended, Evelyn immediately hired a personal trainer.
With only a week left until Sports Day, time was tight—but the intense sessions noticeably improved her stamina.
On Sports Day, Elliot, Julian, and Harrison sat in the bleachers. Elliot shook his head in disbelief.
"I've never seen Evelyn train this hard in her life."
Julian smirked. "A week won't make her an athlete, though. If she loses, go easy on her, alright?"
"Don't worry. I'll pick a moderately priced gaming set. Promise."
"You'd better."
Julian didn't respond.
Just then, Harrison stood abruptly. Elliot frowned. "Where are you going?"
Harrison didn't look back as he walked away. "Something I need to handle."
