Chapter 38

"I've uncovered everything! Vanessa was the one who humiliated Evelyn in her boutique and kept showing off until she got exposed and thrown out for buying counterfeit goods," Nathan declared.

He slammed a recording device onto the desk. "These are testimonies from every staff member who's worked here in the past three years."

"Every single one confirmed you treated Evelyn like a servant. You screamed at her, forced her to cook for us, even demanded she wash our underwear!" His voice shook with barely contained rage.

Eleanor pouted like a chastened child when confronted with the evidence.

"She offered to do those things! That gold-digger should've expected such treatment when she shamelessly married into our family," she muttered petulantly.

"Is that really how you all saw her?" Nathan's voice dropped to a dangerous whisper.

He'd never imagined his seemingly perfect family could harbor such cruelty.

For three years, Evelyn had shouldered double duties - working grueling hours as his executive assistant by day, only to return home to Eleanor and Vanessa's torment.

Yet she'd never complained. And he'd never bothered to notice. What kind of husband had he been?

"Not content with abusing her at home, you destroyed her belongings at her own store! With Vanessa's entitled attitude, she was bound to land herself in trouble eventually."

"She'll serve three years in prison. Maybe that will teach her some humility," Nathan pronounced coldly.

Eleanor opened her mouth to protest, but one glacial look from her son sent her collapsing back onto the sofa, teeth clenched in frustration.

Nathan tore off his tie with a sharp jerk, then turned his piercing gaze to Isabella.

She'd remained silent throughout, but the condemnation in his eyes made her breath hitch painfully.

"You knew exactly who Evelyn Carter was. Why pretend ignorance? And why send someone to stalk her and stage those misleading photos?"

Isabella's lips parted soundlessly. She hadn't anticipated he'd uncover that particular betrayal.
