Chapter 491
"What nonsense are you spouting? How does this relate to my future marriage prospects? Julian, make yourself clear!" Harrison demanded, his brows furrowing in confusion.
"Figure it out yourself, brother!"
"No, you're explaining this to me right now."
Ignoring Elliot's teasing smirk, Harrison strode purposefully toward the art studio alone.
Through the window, he spotted Evelyn. She sat completely absorbed in her still-life drawing, pencil moving across the paper with deliberate strokes. Though her technique lacked polish, her concentration was absolute.
Harrison had never witnessed this side of her before.
He remained motionless, observing silently as Evelyn continued working long after class had ended, determined to finish her assignment.
Finally, Evelyn stretched her aching arm, a satisfied smile lighting up her face. "Finally finished," she murmured to herself.
The moment the words left her lips, Harrison pushed open the door. "All done?"
Evelyn turned, revealing smudges of charcoal across her cheek that she remained blissfully unaware of.
Her face brightened when she saw him. "Harrison! What brings you here?"
He approached with amusement dancing in his eyes. "Evelyn, perhaps you'd like to check your reflection before we continue?"
"What? Why?"
She rushed to the mirror and gasped. "When did this happen? Harrison, wait here - I'll be right back!"
Evelyn dashed to the restroom. When she returned, Harrison offered his handkerchief.
"Your hands."
"Thanks!"
After drying her hands, she asked, "Weren't you supposed to be in meetings all afternoon? What changed?"
"Nothing important. I just wanted to see you. Elliot mentioned you're considering fashion design."
Evelyn nodded without hesitation.
"I think it's perfect. I could open my own boutique someday, launch a clothing line, maybe even show at Fashion Week..."
As she spoke, her eyes sparkled with such intensity they seemed to catch fire. The afternoon sunlight streaming through the windows illuminated her like a spotlight.
"I've even imagined where I'll live - a beautiful house with an enormous koi pond in the backyard."
She continued dreamily, "A sprawling garden full of my favorite flowers would be ideal. And a porch swing where I could spend afternoons reading, watching dramas... in spring, summer, autumn, winter..."
"Sharing every season, every meal with someone special."
Harrison listened intently, committing each word to memory as she painted her future with words.
His gaze softened as he asked, "Is this truly what you want?"
Evelyn turned to him with conviction. "Absolutely! It sounds simple, but getting there won't be easy."
"Don't worry." Harrison's voice held quiet certainty. "It will happen."
