Chapter 494
Evelyn sighed deeply as she watched Elliot and Julian arguing like children. She stepped between them and wrapped an arm around each brother's shoulders.
"Alright, you two. I know you're both amazing. In my heart, you're equally important to me."
"Damn right," Elliot muttered.
"Wait," Julian suddenly turned to Harrison. "What about your gift for Evelyn?"
Evelyn's eyes lit up with curiosity as she looked at Harrison. "You got me something too?"
Harrison remained silent, but Elliot jumped in excitedly. "Oh, you have no idea! Harrison's been working on this for six months!"
Julian caught on immediately. After years of friendship, he'd long recognized Harrison's feelings for Evelyn.
"Actually," Julian cleared his throat, "I just remembered we have that... thing. We should go."
"Yeah, that thing," Elliot agreed quickly. The brothers practically dragged Dominic away, leaving Evelyn alone with Harrison.
Evelyn blinked in confusion. "What's gotten into them today?"
"Don't worry about them."
Harrison reached into his jacket pocket, hesitating for just a moment before producing a small velvet box.
"Happy graduation, Evelyn."
Her face broke into a radiant smile. "Harrison! You really did get me something!"
With eager fingers, she opened the box. Inside lay a breathtaking blue gemstone necklace that shimmered like captured moonlight.
"Oh my God!" Evelyn gasped. "This is stunning!"
A small smile played on Harrison's lips. "Do you like it?"
"I love it! It's perfect!"
"It's called the Heart of the Ocean. I acquired it at auction specifically for you. May it bring you good fortune."
"Thank you," she whispered.
"Would you like me to help you put it on?"
"Please."
His fingers brushed against her neck as he fastened the clasp. The cool metal settled against her skin.
"It suits you."
"Harrison..." Evelyn hesitated. "Is there something you want to tell me?"
He looked into her eyes - those familiar eyes that had haunted his dreams for years. The words burned on his tongue, but fear held them back.
Instead, he said, "Study hard at Coronia. Graduate quickly and chase your dreams."
Evelyn beamed. "I will."
Three months later, Evelyn boarded a plane to Coronia. Meanwhile, Harrison successfully closed Fulton Group's first billion-dollar deal, propelling the company to unprecedented heights.
Their reunion came at year's end when Harrison traveled to Eligo for business and made a detour to Coronia University.
The taxi dropped him at the campus gates. Standing before the ivy-covered buildings, Harrison felt his restless heart finally calm.
With trembling fingers, he dialed Evelyn's number. "Guess where I am?" he teased, trying to mask his nerves.
At the sound of his voice, Evelyn nearly dropped her books. "Harrison...?" Her voice cracked with emotion.
