Chapter 448

Evelyn's eyes widened with sudden understanding. "Julian, are you suggesting we bring Katherine into Kingsley Industries?"

Julian gave a confirming nod. "That's precisely my thought."

Evelyn nodded but remained silent.

It was common knowledge in the industry that established actresses like Katherine, who already had fame and recognition, were difficult acquisitions for any company. After all, an actress only became profitable after gaining substantial popularity.

Yet here was Katherine, willingly offering to join Kingsley Industries.

"Ms. Carter, am I not welcome?" Katherine teased lightly.

"Of course you are! It would be an honor to have someone of your caliber join us, Ms. Whitaker."

"I'm looking forward to our collaboration!"

Katherine's gaze drifted to Julian standing beside her. The adoration in her eyes was unmistakable - any woman would recognize that look.

Evelyn understood immediately. This wasn't purely a career move for Katherine. There were other motives at play here.

Just as Evelyn was about to speak, her phone rang, interrupting the moment.

She glanced at the screen, and a flicker of disappointment crossed her features when she saw the caller ID.

After a brief hesitation, she answered. "Sophia? What's up?"

Evelyn couldn't help but glance at Julian and Katherine as she spoke.

"I heard you've established a talent division. You must have several rising stars needing sponsorships now?"

Evelyn chuckled. "I'm surprised you're so well-informed about our company developments, given how discreet you usually are."

"VERE happens to be looking for sponsorship opportunities this year. Natalie mentioned your new venture. This isn't a conversation for the phone. Shall we meet in person?"

"Absolutely! I'm at the office now. I'll have Maxwell come down to escort you."

"No need. I know my way around. I'll park in the garage and come up directly."

After hanging up, Evelyn turned to Julian. "Sophia will be here shortly."

Julian remained impassive. "You two can talk. I'll show Katherine around the premises."

Katherine? Evelyn's smile widened, though internally she was seething.

Since when had they become so familiar?

"Then I'll go with Julian. We'll catch up later."

Evelyn maintained a professional smile. "Of course! Go ahead."

Katherine offered a polite smile and turned to leave when Evelyn suddenly stopped Julian.

"Julian, wait. There's something I need to discuss with you."

Without hesitation, Julian murmured to Katherine, "Wait for me outside."

Katherine nodded obediently. "Of course!"

Once Katherine had exited, Evelyn grabbed Julian's arm urgently. "Julian, what exactly is your relationship with Katherine? What's really going on here?"

Julian looked genuinely perplexed as he raised his hands. "Didn't I just explain? She's my junior. She's had contract disputes with her previous agency and barely managed to get released. I saw an opportunity and did her a favor by introducing her to you."

"That's all there is to it?"

Evelyn clearly wasn't convinced. She couldn't forget the way Katherine had looked at him - that tender, affectionate gaze spoke volumes.
