Chapter 295
"Keep looking. Two more mines remain. If she's not there, we'll mobilize military forces," Dominic commanded with steel in his voice.
Julian sprang to his feet, exhaustion forgotten, and marched toward the ninth mine shaft with renewed determination.
Fortune favors the brave.
At precisely 3:17 am, Harrison's flashlight beam finally illuminated Evelyn's unconscious form in the deepest chamber.
Dehydration and oxygen deprivation had taken their toll after twelve grueling hours. Her vital signs were dangerously unstable.
Harrison cradled her against his chest. Step by agonizing step, he ascended the treacherous mine shaft, carrying Evelyn toward salvation.
A medical team stood ready at the entrance. The moment they emerged, doctors whisked Evelyn away for emergency treatment.
The waiting room clock ticked mercilessly as Dominic and Julian paced like caged predators.
Though physically spent from the all-night search, adrenaline kept them razor-focused on Evelyn's condition.
"Whoever did this to Evie won't live to see sunrise!" Julian slammed his fist against the wall, eyes blazing with fury.
Dominic remained silent, studying Harrison's hollow expression across the room. "Harrison," he asked quietly, "think carefully. Any enemies? Recent conflicts?"
Their gazes locked like crossed blades.
"Summit Corporation," Harrison spat through clenched teeth.
The terminated partnership had clearly provoked retaliation.
Without hesitation, Harrison issued the order that would become Summit's death sentence.
"I want their stock worthless by market close."
Dominic and Julian exchanged glances - this punishment seemed inadequate.
"Bankruptcy can't erase what Evelyn endured today."
Harrison's smile held no warmth. "Consider this the opening move."
Recognizing the dangerous glint in his eyes, the brothers deferred to Harrison's judgment.
Within the hour, Donovan Prescott was dragged before them, collapsing to his knees.
"Mr. Whitmore, I swear on my life - Summit had no involvement in Ms. Carter's disappearance! Name your price, just spare my company!"
Harrison remained unmoved. "If not you, then who?"
Donovan shook his head violently. "Investigate thoroughly! I'll stake my reputation - Summit is completely innocent!"
As if on cue, Harrison's security team arrived with new information.
"Sir, we've identified them!"
All three men straightened like drawn swords.
"Report."
"Six individuals with extensive criminal records, sir. They attempted to flee after...disposing of Ms. Carter in the mine. Our teams intercepted them at the airport."
Harrison examined the dossiers with cold precision. No familiar faces.
"Secure them. I want interrogation results before dawn. Every connection, every motive - leave no stone unturned."
"Yes, Mr. Whitmore."
